The Kirstenbosch Run was an unforgettable experience! As the most active beach buggy club Cape Town enthusiasts can join, the Wild Buggers turned heads from Bothasig all the way to the mountain! Our convoy of classic VWs—a vibrant mix of colours and styles—embarked on a scenic journey through the heart of the mother city, culminating in a breathtaking day at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. It was the kind of Cape Town day that makes you glad you own an air-cooled classic.

Gathering at Bothasig: Convoy of Buggy Buddies

The morning began with a flurry of activity as our buggy buddies gathered at the meeting spot in Bothasig. There was a palpable buzz of excitement as we checked over our machines. We had a great variety on display, from Rhoodie’s blue Kango water-cooled beach buggy motor to Brent and Sam’s iconic orange Salamander Beach Buggy with its 1600 Beetle motor.

Even before we hit the road, the camaraderie was strong. Seeing Jessie Huggett in his stunning blue Kestrel Kart Craft beach buggy and the passion of the members chatting about their builds is what being the most active Beach Buggy Club Cape Town has to offer is all about. We are more than just a club; we are a family that builds together.

The Summit Ascent: Table Mountain and Scenic Vistas

With engines revving, the convoy rolled out of Bothasig. The highlight of the drive was undoubtedly our ascent toward Table Mountain. Navigating those winding roads in a Beach Buggy is an exhilarating experience, especially with the sun reflecting off the bright yellow hues of the lead cars.

We reached the summit viewpoints and parked up. Looking at Ruan’s black Beamish Beach Buggy and the rest of the fleet against the panoramic vistas of the Cape, you realize why this is the best Beach Buggy Club Cape Town enthusiasts could ask for. We took a moment to soak in the views and snap some photos before heading down toward the gardens.

Picnic Perfection at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

After enjoying the mountain air, we continued to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. We immersed ourselves in the world of vibrant flora, wandering through lush pathways and even stumbling upon some artistic statues. It was a feast for the senses and a perfect backdrop for our air-cooled machines.

To wrap up the day, we found a perfect spot under a massive tree for a lazy picnic. The Zara family brought enough food for a feast, and we spent a delightful afternoon relaxing on the lawn and sharing laughs. The Kirstenbosch Run was a celebration of friendship and a reminder of why the Wild Buggers community is so special.
