The latest Wild Buggers outing was a world-class reminder of why the VW air-cooled lifestyle is the best in the Western Cape. We traded the usual inland routes for a top-notch cruise toward the Atlantic, and the Oceana Power Boat Club turned out to be the perfect spot for our beach buggy club to anchor for the afternoon.

Wild Buggers Rolling Out in Style

There is nothing quite like the sound of a convoy of beach buggy and classic Beetle engines firing up for a Sunday run. As a dedicated beach buggy club, we made our way toward the coast with the sea breeze hitting us as we neared the harbor. Whether you were driving a rugged Baja Bug, a sleek classic Beetle, or a custom beach buggy, the drive was smooth and the Wild Buggers company was even better.

A Feast at Oceana Power Boat Club

Once we arrived at the Oceana Power Boat Club, the vibe was instantly upbeat for every Wild Buggers member. Faizal took command of the braai stands, showing off a world-class spread that was heading straight for the coals. There is nothing like a bit of banter around the grill to keep the Wild Buggers spirit high while waiting for the main event.

The crew sat down under the gazebos to enjoy a top-class meal. We are talking properly prepared boerrie rolls loaded with onions and sauce, served with fresh salads. Between the fresh sea air and the view of the pool, this social was exactly what our beach buggy club needed to recharge. This VW air-cooled social scene is what makes our community so special.

Views and Vapors

The location offered a bit of everything for the Wild Buggers crew. We had a great vantage point from the bridge to watch the boats and jet skis arriving at the jetty. It was a proper coastal getaway for any Baja Bug owner, with the iconic Cape Wheel at the V&A Waterfront standing tall in the distance.

Another successful outing in the books! The view from the bridge gave us a top-notch perspective of the harbor and the Atlantic.

Watching the water-cooled action in the bay while we enjoyed our VW air-cooled lifestyle on land was a highlight. Even Mickey noted how “small” that big wheel looks when you’re having this much fun in a beach buggy! It was a day filled with the right sights, the right sounds, and the best VW air-cooled enthusiasts.
