When the Wild Buggers hear about a world tour, we don’t just send a postcard—we send a convoy! Our recent run to catch up with Tony and Sue was a spectacular celebration of air-cooled heritage, featuring everything from the rugged Baja Bug to the iconic Kombi.
A Legend on the Move: Meeting the World Tour Baja Bug
Tony and Sue are currently living the dream, traversing the globe in their specially prepped machine. Meeting up with them was a high point for our club. Seeing their gear-packed Baja Bug ready to tackle international borders reminded us all why these vehicles are the ultimate adventure machines. Whether it’s crossing the Karoo or crossing a continent, the Baja Bug is built for the long haul.
It wasn’t just about the off-roaders, though. We had a fantastic turnout from our local members, including a beautiful Kombi that added that classic soulful vibe to the line-up. Seeing a Kombi and a Baja Bug cruising side-by-side is a sight that always stops traffic and brings smiles to everyone we pass.
Campsite Stories and Air-Cooled Camaraderie
After a great drive, we settled in for a proper braai and some serious “kuiertyd.” There is nothing quite like a gathering of the beach buggy club Cape Town trusts to get the stories flowing. We spent the afternoon swapping mechanical tips and hearing about the incredible places Tony and Sue have visited so far.
The diversity of our club was on full display. From sleek VW Beetles to the lifted, desert-ready Baja Bug, the classic beach buggy, and the spacious Kombi, every vehicle had a story to tell. It’s this mix of people and machines that makes the Wild Buggers Beach Buggy Club so special. We aren’t just a car club; we are a family that supports each other’s wildest travel dreams.
