Next Wild Buggers Beach Buggy Club Event: 9 August

Our monthly convoy runs are the heartbeat of the club. It is where the air-cooled family comes together to cruise the beautiful roads of the Western Cape, share technical advice, and enjoy great community ‘gees’.

The Golden Rules of the Run

1. Arrive Fuelled Up: Always arrive with a completely full tank of fuel before departure so we don’t have to break the convoy for unexpected petrol stops.
2. “Follow” the Car Behind You: Your main job is to keep the vehicle behind you in sight. If they fall back, you must slow down too. The speed of the lead car is entirely determined by the slowest car at the back of the pack.
3. Never Abandon a Turnoff: If the convoy turns onto a new road and the vehicle behind you hasn’t caught up yet, stop and wait at the turnoff until they see you and make the turn. They will then do the same for the person behind them.
4. No Member Left Behind: If the car behind you disappears or pulls over, stop safely and help us find out why. If they have a breakdown, the whole club is there to back them up.
5. Keep a Safe Gap: Maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead of you. Remember, classic drum brakes need a bit more stopping room!
6. Respect the Road: Show absolute respect to all other road users. The Wild Buggers stand for good camaraderie and safe driving.
7. All Bugs Welcome: While our roots are deeply tied to air-cooled VW classics, we welcome all variations—including custom water-cooled engine setups. If it has a buggy body and four wheels, you belong in the line.
8. Family First Vibe: Our events are strictly family-friendly. We focus on breakfast runs, weekend camps, charity events, and scenic adventure drives. We do not participate in pub runs, street racing, or reckless driving.

Newcomers are always welcome to join us for 2 or 3 of our monthly runs as a guest to experience the club vibe firsthand before officially earning your club colours.

Don’t just watch from the sidelines. Whether you cruise in a custom beach buggy, a rugged Baja Bug, or a classic VW Beetle, you just need to bring your air-cooled VW (or your water-cooled conversion!) out and join the convoy.
