The roar of engines, the cheers of children, the smell of boerewors on the braai – these are the sounds and smells of a successful Wild Buggers Beach Buggy Club charity run! We recently had an absolute blast at Killarney International Raceway, and we’re still buzzing from the incredible day we shared with some very special kids.
Our Killarney International Raceway Charity Run was more than just a day at the races; it was an opportunity to give back to our community and share our love of beach buggies with underprivileged children from four different homes, the wonderful House of Love, Mercy Aids, Huis Andrew Murray Kinderhuis and Mamawethu Home of Safety. Seeing the kids’ faces light up as they hopped into our buggies for a spin around the track was truly priceless. From the moment the first beach buggy, Lerene Sadie’s beautiful blue Kango, arrived bright and early, we knew it was going to be a special day.
We’d spent weeks planning the event, securing the perfect braai area for boerewors rolls (thanks to our pre-run planning trip!), reserving grandstand seating for the kids, and making sure we had plenty of parking. The pre-run organization was key to making sure everything ran smoothly on the day. We even had a visit from a clown on a scooter who decided to join the fun on the track! Talk about adding some extra excitement!
A huge shout-out to our amazing members who volunteered their time and energy to make this day possible. From Rhoodie Ackerman and Rico Barlow, who generously provided slush puppies to keep everyone cool, to all the members who brought their beach buggies and gave the kids unforgettable rides – you are the heart and soul of the Wild Buggers. Special thanks to Brent, Gary, Jessie, Ruan, Anthony, Harry, both Anton’s, Hendry, Rhoodie and Rico for sharing their amazing machines and giving the children such special memories. Remember, these beach buggies are not just vehicles; they are vessels of joy!
The day wouldn’t have been complete without the delicious boerewors rolls sizzling on the braai. We made sure there were enough boerewors rolls to feed an army, and the kids definitely enjoyed them! It was a true feast, shared with laughter and good company. We believe in community, and sharing a meal is a great way to build it.
The Killarney International Raceway Charity Run was a resounding success, a testament to the Wild Buggers’ spirit of generosity and our passion for sharing the joy of beach buggies. We’re so proud of what we accomplished together, and we can’t wait to do it again!
