Ah, what a weekend! If you happened to be anywhere near the Highlands gravel road recently, you might have felt a rumble, a joyous roar, and a whole lot of dust. That was us, your favorite VW Family<\/strong>, embarking on the legendary \u201cDie Zara’s se Highlands surf & turf run.\u201d And let me tell you<\/sup>, it was an absolute jol from start t<\/sup>o finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gravel Roads and Coastal Views: A Legendary Run for our VW Classics<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is what it\u2019s all about! We took a great drive on the Highlands Road and found a hidden scenic point we never even knew existed. Pure adventure!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We’re not going to lie, the main goal of the trip was to have a good time and give our old school VWs<\/strong> a proper run. We had everything from sleek VW Beetles<\/strong> to proper Beach Buggies<\/strong>, each one a VW classic<\/strong> ready for the open road. The convoy was a sight to behold\u2014a line of legendary VW Bugs<\/strong> tackling the gravel road like it was nothing. I even saw Kyle’s VW Beetle<\/strong> looking sharp from the back of Shrek, but the best part was seeing everyone so happy behind the whee<\/sup>l of their favorite VW classics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a good stretch of dusty driving, our pitstop in Kleinmond was just what the doctor ordered. We might have planned on just a quick break, but with our crew, \u201cquick\u201d is a relative term. The Wild Buggers<\/strong> were spotted on a wall, just chilling and chatting away like there was no tomorrow. Turns o<\/sup>ut, the best conversations happen when the engines are off and the laughs are turned all the way up. Even our co-pilot, Mickey, got a go<\/sup>od photo in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the adventure didn’t stop there. We even had our friend, Yolande, and her brand new Hyundai following our convoy! It just goes to show you that a road trip with the Wild Buggers<\/strong> is so much fun that even a modern car wants to get in on the action. And for the record, both her car and our very own \u201cThe Wasp\u201d needed a good wash after all that dusty fun\u2014a true badge of honor for any VW Air cooled vehicle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a good drive, our final destination was the yacht club, and let’s just say we arrived in style. We might not have come by sea, but our VW classics<\/strong> made a massive statement. We laughed, we had a drink, and we talked until we had to go back to our cars for the drive home. It was a perfect end to a perfect day. As the most active beach buggy club Cape Town<\/strong> has to offer, we know that the best way to spend a weekend is chasing dust and making memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
